Based on the fieldwork of public works in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the United States, the author gives a co- mparative study on universal design in urban construction between China and America focusing on the problems such as low popularity, lack of standardization, short of detail design in China. Then provide some advices from a legal perspective, a practical level and the level of scientific research respectively to improve our universal design, enhance the overall quality of urban public services, and create a social atmosphere of equal respect.
