Abstract:The concept and explanation of the “word-making method of six Chinese characters” have been discussed in this work. According to the present situation of transferring this method to the design and teaching in the artistic courses usually used in both the sides of the straits, through extensively reading of available references and by use of statistics method we have made a systematic comparison between the transferring methods used in the Main-land China and that in Taiwan. We also used the results of the questionnaire survey from the students majoring in Display Design of the WPP Visual Art Institute of Shanghai Arts & Design Academy, and we can draw a conclusion which indicates that the method of “word-making method of six Chinese characters” can be a usefully complementary method for the teaching design to strengthen the background of humanities education for the students studying the course of design in the vocational college.
