Abstract:Herbert Bayer is a representative modern graphic designer who developed sans serif typeface and designed the classical public artwork named Double Ascension. He remarkably embodied the cross-disciplinary characteristics of public art in his works. By analyzing the innovative significance, formal language, and design process of Double Ascension, and its relationship with the environment, it was found that various factors, such as the open education, high sensitivity to graphic-based forms, diverse skills and human-centered design concept, have played an important role in the development of this representative cross-disciplinary public artist.
