In the late Qing and the early Republic of China, influenced by Western artistic thoughts and domestic cultural campaigns, Chinese traditional marriage customs were impacted by modern western civilization. The marriage contract evolved from a traditional red paper written by Chinese calligraphy to marriage certificate with visual design. By summarizing the pattern types in the marriage certificates of the Republic of China, this paper organizes the change rules of pattern design, and on this basis, discusses the visual aesthetic evolution of the Republic of China.
