Abstract:[Purpose] This study aims to explore innovative revitalization approaches for the precious cultural artifact—the Jiangling Mashan bamboo fan from the Warring States period, providing practical references for the preservation and innovation of intangible cultural heritage. [Method] A combined methodology of literature review, material analysis, and design experimentation was employed. First, the artistic features and cultural significance of the bamboo fan were examined through historical documents. Next, shape grammar was applied to deconstruct and reinterpret the fan's surface patterns. Finally, leveraging analogical thinking, elements from Qu Yuan's cultural legacy were incorporated, and modern design methods were used for innovative practical validation. [Result] Two innovative pathways were proposed: (1) pattern derivation based on shape grammar, and (2) reference pattern innovation through analogical thinking, leading to the development of the "Fan Narrates Li Sao" themed cultural creative products. Additionally, strategies for the contemporary development of traditional bamboo weaving craftsmanship were outlined. [Conclusion] The study offers a feasible solution for the modern transformation of Warring States bamboo fan culture and establishes a transferable theoretical framework for the innovative development of other traditional crafts.
