Abstract:[Purpose] This paper discussed the important reference value of Pang Xunqin, the founder and reformer of Chinese arts and crafts education, for today's art and design education. [Method] This paper took Pang Xunqin's exploration timeline in arts and crafts education as a clue, reviews and analyzes the construction process and connotation of his arts and crafts education thoughts. From the establishment of national consciousness during the study in France to the gradual transformation of identity and vision after returning to China, and then to the formation of the educational concept during the teaching period of the Academy of Arts and Crafts. [Result] Pang Xunqin's arts and crafts education ideas are based on national culture, build scientific design values, and make significant contributions to the formation of an independent system of Chinese socialist arts and crafts education. [Conclusion] Re-examining the value of its educational thought is of great guiding significance for the construction of the theoretical paradigm and the deepening adjustment of the design industry structure in the context of the transformation of the design discipline in China.
