Abstract:[Purpose] Peranakans are the descendants of intermarriage between Nanyang immigrants and local Malay women from the 15th to the 17th centuries. The terraced houses in the Blair Plain construction area in Singapore are typical representatives of Peranakan residences and have been included in the residential historical area and are protected. By analyzing the decorative symbols on the terrace house buildings in the area, to study the decorative aesthetic characteristics of the Peranakan group. [Method] Through field investigation, the decorative symbols on the terraced houses in this area are analyzed to extract the core concepts of their decorative aesthetics. [Result] it was found that the decorative aesthetics of the Peranakan group reflects four characteristics about, the bloom of Chinese culture in the context of immigration, motherland feelings and surrender to local culture, the absorption of various styles in the context of globalization, coordination and balance in multiculturalism. [Conclusion]The decorative style of the terraced houses in this region is highly ornate, presenting an amalgamation of Chinese, European, and Malay cultural elements. This distinctive hybrid cultural phenomenon serves as a valuable tangible exemplar and reference for the study of Peranakan culture.
