Abstract:[Purpose] This study aims to explore the creation thought of Chinese Han clothing in Song Dynasty by interpreting its shape and craftsmanship features, and to uncover the intrinsic connections between these features and the underlying creation thought. [Method] Based on the clothing science theory, this study employs a comprehensive methodology integrating literature research, case analysis, and inductive research. It conducts a critical examination of diverse historical sources, including ancient texts, extant visual artworks, and archaeological artifacts. [Result] The study systematically categorizes typical garments for both men and women from the Song Dynasty and distills the rich creation thought manifested through their shape and craftsmanship. [Conclusion] Han Chinese clothing in the Song Dynasty embodies profound creation thought, including "convenience and practicality" "functionality and utility" "learning from nature" "preserving materials and conserving resources" "wise creation" and "benefiting others through practicality" . This study provides references and inspiration for contemporary Song-style Hanfu design.
